Mlem's Wasdag Open Call

WE’RE LOOKING FOR ARTISTS
Mlem is currently gathering artists for an upcoming show titled “Mlem’s Wasdag”. An event centered around laundry-day, using a multi-speaker surround sound setup. Think wet bedsheets, ironing boards and washing lines. Your machine at home that leaks every once in a while, baggging it up to go to your parent’s place or the laundry place next to your work.
Mlem’s wasdag is a laundry-day themed, multi-speaker (4.4.1), multidisciplinary event taking place at LE:EN in Utrecht. Think wet bedsheets, ironing boards and washing lines. Your machine at home that leaks every once in a while, bagging it up to go to your parent’s place or the laundry place next to your work.
This theme is the creative framework for the show, you’re encouraged to take the absolute wildest interpretation of it. Whether you’re creating new work or adapting existing work, surprise us! In the end, we’ll make sure it all comes together.
One room in the venue will be dedicated to live performances on a multi-speaker surround sound setup. Musicians will be performing in the center of the room and are fully surrounded by their crowd.
The room nextdoor is dedicated to visual, spatial and interactive art. Attendees can flow to and from this room freely during the event.
The event is planned for early January and will be taking place in the evening. More details on the exact date and time will be provided soon.
This open call for artists is our search for interesting sonic, musical, visual and spatial artists that can contribute to the show.
- For musical artists, we’re looking for musical performance pieces, there’s no genre, style or content restrictions, but we’d love to see you make use of the space and the event’s theme.
- For spatial and visual artists, there’s no thematic restrictions but we’d love to see you make use of the event’s theme. There may be some restrictions on the available space but we’d love to accommodate and think with you to make things work.
